We went to Ready Bodies and studied bats.  We all got tickets at Ready Bodies.-Cade

We have been learning about the lives and habits of bats.  We wrote bat reports and also compared bats with birds.  When finished, we made a bat art project.  We look forward to our parents seeing our work when they come for parent conferences.

Tomorrow, we will have a math test over place value.  If students complete their math homework tonight, which is a review for the test, they should do well on the test tomorrow.-Mrs. Richeson

Thursday, October 7

Wow!  I can’t believe the first 6 weeks is already over and that report cards went home today.  I already have a copy ready and waiting for you so please send them back as soon as possible and I will send the copy home with your student.

The start of this year really flew by.  By now, we are settled into our routines and now the real fun will begin.  I look forward to all the good times we will have learning and trying new things this year.  We will begin making a podcast about Christopher Columbus in the next week so look for that soon!  We are also involved in a collaborative project with several other second grade classes across the nation and one from Australia where we compare the weather where we live.  We are hoping to meet our 2nd grade friends from across the nation via Skype very soon.

Going forward, remember to have students read every night and once on the weekends.  If they forget their book, they can read something from home.  If they forget their reading log, they can write in their planner or any other piece of paper.  Also, math homework is done Monday through Thursday nights.  There may be a lot of us, but I know this will be my best 2nd grade class yet!

LIMEADES FOR LEARNING UPDATE!!!

Sonic has changed the way you vote for projects this year. Last year you had to get a code off of a drink and enter that to cast a vote. This year they are allowing one vote per day per email address. So, please remember to go to this site to vote for our class every day! Once you go to the site, you will need to find our class. First, select the search by location option. Select Texas and then White Oak. Then you will find our project which is called, “iTouch…iLearn!” Please spread the word to all your friends, neighbors and family to go ONCE EVERY DAY to this site and vote for us! Thanks so much!

LIMEADES FOR LEARNING IS BACK!!!

Okay, parents! Here’s the challenge… last year our class was able to get 4 iPods for our class that the students used (and still use!) for listening to and looking at books digitally. So, this year we are trying again; this time for 2 iPod touches! If you go to Sonic and get a Limeades for Learning code, please, please, PLEASE either follow the link on this page and vote for our project or send it to school with your student and we will do it. Also, if your friends, neighbors, or family anywhere in the United States go to Sonic and get a drink code, then beg, borrow or steal their code to get votes for our project! Well, don’t steal… but let’s get some votes and some iPod touches! Voting is set to begin on Monday, August 30th. Some projects will be funded each week for 5 weeks. Why not us?!
