Whew! I can’t believe we are starting our 4th week of school. This time has flown by! This is what we’ve been working on so far this year:
In math we have been working on place value: understanding how our number system works and what the digits in numbers mean. This is so important to our foundation of math skills.
In writing, we have been busy building our Writer’s Notebooks and using the things we put in them to write using the writing process.
In reading, we have been learning how to work independently to become better readers. We have also been studying the Black Lagoon series by Mike Thaler.
In Social Studies we have been learning about ourselves and our classmates and also about our community.
Here’s what we’ll be learning about this week:
In math we are starting our chapter on addition. Don’t forget the fun games you can access from home to practice these skills!
In writing this week, we are reviewing nouns, making a class noun book and writing individual pieces about something we would wish for.
In reading, we are using our Scholstic News to read and answer questions.
In science, we are learning about weather and doing several weather experiements.
Have a great week!
